Could you lend a paw for Ferne?

Ferne Animal SanctuaryNow that spring has sprung, Ferne could really do with some extra help in its Charity shops in Chard, Ilminster, Langport and Bridport and also in the Sanctuary Café at Chard.

Our volunteers play a vital part in the work we do and are valuable members of our busy teams,” said Volunteer Coordinator Amanda Thornton. “They come to Ferne with a variety of skills and we aim to ensure that we match those skills to the volunteering roles we have.”

At the moment, we are looking for some dedicated and enthusiastic people with time to spare who would enjoy the opportunity of meeting new people and being part of our busy team. In return, we can offer a thorough induction and training with ongoing support. It’s an ideal opportunity to gain some retail or catering experience, meet lovely people and get involved in the local community.

At this time of year with lots of spring cleans going on, our shops are particularly busy. There’s always stock to sort and display, window dressing to create and customers to serve. It would be ideal if you could regularly spare some time to get involved and perhaps also wanted to get some work experience.

Our café is an integral part of the Sanctuary and is open every day of the week serving our visitors delicious home cooked food. Volunteering in the café can be a rewarding experience and the friendly atmosphere provided by Richard Kingdon, our chef, ensure that as a volunteer you will feel welcomed and appreciated.

There is the opportunity to engage with our visitors, taking the time to chat with them as you take their order or serve their refreshments,” said Richard. “Alternatively, you may prefer to be behind the scenes in the busy kitchen, either way you are contributing to the work of the Sanctuary.”

If you would like to become part of our valued volunteering team in the café or in one of our shops, we would be delighted to have you on board.

Ferne Animal Sanctuary is a registered charity and relies on the support of the public and dedicated volunteers to continue its vital work.
