Launch party unveils new season of Somerset keeved cider

Pilton Cider 2015 Launch Apr16 smallOn Friday 29 April, Pilton Cider officially launched its fresh and fruity 2015 harvest of keeved cider, which was unveiled after six months of cold fermentation. Over 100 guests attended the new season launch party, held in Martin Berkeley’s Shepton Mallet-based cidery, and were among the first to taste the new batch.

Bath-based band, Agent Philby & the Funtans, performed as guests enjoyed the full back catalogue of Pilton Cider vintages since 2010, discovering how each season’s harvest has resulted in more dry or sweet varieties throughout the years. Cider maker, Martin Berkeley, then gave a short tour of the cider works, while explaining the finer points of the centuries-old art of keeving, which he has revived to make this award-winning cider.

Pilton Cider’s 2015 batch is now available in 75cl bottles, 37.5cl half bottles and 150cl magnums. It can be purchased from independent grocery stores, farm shops and delis around the UK, as well as online at www.piltoncider.com

About Pilton Cider

Based in an old Victorian brewery, in the heart of Somerset’s cider-land in Shepton Mallet, Pilton Cider produces 3-star Great Taste award-winning whole juice sparkling cider through the time-honoured process of keeving, a method which dates back as far as the 1600s in England. With many cider makers in the UK opting for large-scale factory techniques, Martin Berkeley, founder and owner of Pilton Cider, has revived the centuries-old art of keeving, which is still used widely today in France, to create a truly unique sparkling drink that is fast becoming a popular choice at dinner parties, restaurants and celebrations. Pilton Cider is featured in the book World’s Best Ciders by Bill Bradshaw and Pete Brown.
