Join Somerset author, JUSTIN NEWLAND, for a lively, illustrated talk – Delving into the laws and lives of Old China

Somerset author Dr. Justin Newland’s fascination with the supernatural inspired his latest novel, The Old Dragon’s Head, a historical thriller played out in in the shadows of the Great Wall of China.

Taking place at Wells Library from 11.00 a.m.-12.30 p.m. on Saturday 16th March 2019, ‘The Great Ming Code: How the Law Book of the Ming Dynasty attempted to harmonise human society with the will of Heaven’ will explore how the rule of law reached into every aspect of people’s lives, even that of the Emperor. He’ll also discuss his writing and sign copies of his book.

Author Bio

After a long career in I.T., his love of literature finally seduced him. In 2006, Justin found his way to the creative keyboard to start his debut novel, The Genes of Isis, a tale of love, destruction and ethereal power set under Ancient Egyptian skies.

He is currently working on a novel set in East Prussia during the Enlightenment in the 18th Century which speculates on an alternative genesis to the Industrial Revolution.  

Justin writes historical fiction with a supernatural twist. His novels explore the spirit of our times, the underlying narrative to every culture and nation.
