A grant from South Somerset District Council (SSDC) has helped with installation of efficient air conditioning at a community shop and café in Seavington. Seavington Community Shop and Services Association received a grant of £1,000 from SSDC’s Area North Committee towards the cost of their project to install a new system to improve air cooling and temperature regulation in the building. VINTAGE SCIENTIFIC EQUIPMENT FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTOR IN SHERBORNE TO BE SOLD
A vast range of vintage scientific equipment from a private collector in Sherborne is to be sold by Lawrences of Crewkerne on 6th September 2017. Mark Deavin, a former RAF technician who later worked for the Plessey Marine Research Unit, started collecting scientific instruments in the mid-1940s and has since built up an enormous array of items including mineral tubes, Van de Graaf generators and all kinds of specialist electrical measuring devices.
