A371 Castle Cary Railway Bridge Closure Postponed until new year

The proposed repairs of the bridge on the A371 at Castle Cary have been postponed until 2013 after a heated meeting at the Brook House Inn, Alhampton. Over 200 local residents and business owners voiced their concerns to rail bosses, fuming that the long detours would dramatically effect individuals, businesses and schools in the area.

WESTONZOYLAND PUMPING STATION MUSEUM

Run entirely by volunteers, the Museum was established more than 30 years ago, when the Westonzoyland Engine Trust, a registered ‘not for profit’ charity, was set up “to advance the education of the public regarding steam power and land drainage”.
