New help to prevent homelessness
Around 150 young people are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in Somerset – but help is on the way. A new service to prevent youth homelessness and provide quality supported accommodation for young people aged 16-24 years old has been designed through a partnership of Somerset County Council, Mendip District Council, the other Somerset district councils, local youth housing providers and young people, building on existing good practice in the county. A special concert to celebrate one of most enduring combination of instruments the fiddle and the banjo. Featuring a great triple bill including Kate Lissauer, The Gollywhoppers and Stompin’ Dave Allen. Champion fiddler Kate Lissauer originally from Maryland USA is leader of The Buffulo Gal’s who are fast becoming the UK’s favourite string band. Superb old-time duo The Gollywhoppers feature two stalwarts of the old-time scene Andrew Henley and Emily Poole. Bridport based banjo and fiddle man Stompin‘ Dave Allen has been described as “one of the world’s greatest performers” by Maverick Magazine.
