Yeovil College’s Hairdressing students celebrated their outstanding creative skills at a sell-out catwalk show held at the Octagon Theatre, Yeovil. The event showcased the students’ work developing themes which demonstrated their hair styling talents alongside make up and costume designed to complete the required look. The hair show featured approximately 130 models styled by students on Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Full-time courses and Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships, as well as local school pupils who are completing qualifications at the College alongside their GCSEs programmes. Dorset charity calls for village halls champion
Dorset Community Action is urging Dorset’s village hall volunteers to get behind a campaign to form an All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on village halls. The idea has sprung from an initiative by BBC Radio 4’s PM programme to set up an APPG on a subject suggested by its listeners. Reporter Becky Milligan met with Sir Peter Bottomley MP, a champion of APPGs, to discuss potential topics. The tentative list was whittled down to two – village halls or grammar and punctuation. Now, Dorset Community Action (DCA) is calling on volunteers, hall users and community groups to lobby their MPs to support an APPG on village halls, which was suggested by the chairman of a small village hall committee. Record numbers make this year’s Home Farm Fest the best yet
Record numbers of festival goers attended this year’s Home Farm Fest music festival, making it the biggest and most successful in the event’s eight year history. The exceptional weather saw twice as many people attend as last year, with almost three times as much money raised. Around 1,400 people attended the sun-drenched festival in Chilthorne Domer near Yeovil from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 June, which was completely sold out on the Saturday. Full Story: Read More
