With warnings of incoming Hurricane Bertha, there was a certain calm before the storm on what was a glorious morning here at Montacute today, where we had a bumper turnout of 153 runners, including 32 first timers and in what proved ideal running conditions, a cracking 42 new Personal Bests. Latest First World War donation tells the story of two Yeovil War Memorial soldiers
Photographs, memorial cards and a letter are the latest First World War items to be donated to South Somerset District Council’s Community Heritage Access Centre (CHAC) in Yeovil. The latest donation contains photographs of two soldiers who are on Yeovil’s War Memorial – Ernest ‘Dyke’ Luffman and Earle Mitchell. Their memorial cards and a letter from Ernest’s sister Mabel to a Mr Bird, trying to find out more about how Ernest died, complete the donation. Full story: Read more
