Residents to vote on Cerne Valley Neighbourhood Plan

WDDCCerne Valley could have Dorset’s first Neighbourhood Plan if residents give it the go ahead. A local referendum will take place on 11 December, with locals going to the polls to vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to the proposals. The final version of the Cerne Valley Neighbourhood Plan was submitted to West Dorset District Council for examination in December 2013. The plan was drawn up by local people, and agreed by the parish council, who felt confident that the plan reflects the hopes and views of the local community. Remembering display sets up shop in Yeovil Town Centre

Q_081808A remembering display on the First World War has been set up by South Somerset District Council’s Heritage Team in the old Whittard’s shop next to Costa Coffee in the Quedam Shopping Centre, which helps explain how the war began. The display, designed by the Imperial War Museum, will be in the shop from today (Thursday 23 October) until Wednesday 12 November. The display includes an explanation of how the war began, the political map of Europe in 1914 and information and images of life at home and on the front line. Full story: Read more

A hedgehog that has shed its fur and prickles because of an infection is being cared for at a rescue centre in Cheddar. A hedgehog that has shed its fur and prickles because of an infection is being cared for at a rescue centre in Cheddar. Pumpkin was taken to Prickles Hedgehog Rescue with swollen legs but later lost his fur and prickles. Staff at the centre plan to care for the creature until he has re-grown his spines to ensure he is not left vulnerable to predators. The hedgehog will be released back to the wild in spring.
