The RSPCA is appealing for information and for people to be careful after the deaths of five cats on one road in a Somerset village from suspected antifreeze poisoning. A local vet surgery took in three of the cats from Orchard Way, Woolavington, between 4 and 11 November and knew of two others from the same area that had also died. The first cat was found on 4 November in Orchard Way – Sabrina, a female black cat had collapsed and later died at the vets. Full story: Read more
“A night of great music” from South Somerset Choral Society
On Saturday 15th November, South Somerset Choral Society performed an evening of music by renowned French composers to an enthusiastic audience at St.Mary’s Church in Chard. Accompanied by an orchestra and four soloists, the choir of almost 100 choristers under the baton of Director Tim Donaldson gave a memorable performance of works by Gounod, Faure and Franck. Funding still available for community groups in Mendip
Community organisations, parish, town and city councils are being reminded that there is still time for them to apply for funding for local projects from Mendip District Council’s Community Environment Fund. The Community Environment Fund, launched in early 2013, allows each of Mendip’s 47 district councillors to allocate up to £2,000 towards community projects which benefit residents of their wards.
