Yeovil Bike Park Cheque Presentation 1South Somerset District Council’s plans to make improvements to Lyde Park have taken a giant jump closer to reality thanks to a £5,000 Health and Wellbeing grant from Somerset County Councillor Tony Lock. South Somerset District Council (SSDC) is planning to develop an exciting new location for children, young people and adults to cycle and use bikes. Butleigh Poppy Appeal nearly doubles 2013 collection

poppiesThe 2014 Poppy collection covering Butleigh and Butleigh Wootton raised a remarkable £1691.97, being a 45% increase on 2013. Grateful thanks to all those who contributed and to all those involved in the collections. The 1914/2014 centenary enamel pin badges proved very popular and we exhausted our initial supply.In view of their popularity a further supply has been obtained and these are now available in the Rose & Portcullis pub and from the Village Shop. A minimum donation of £2.00 is requested. For those interested in obtaining the original in the current issue of enamel badges, being undated, available direct from Colin McNamee, Poppy Appeal Organiser for Butleigh, Tel 01458 850679. Walking Football takes giant strides towards getting more players involved

Walking Football4More and more people in the Yeovil area are discovering the slower but no less competitive pace of walking football sessions at Bucklers Mead Leisure Centre on Tuesday nights. Walking football has been set up by South Somerset District Council, Bucklers Mead Leisure Centre and Somerset FA and in response to increased demand additional sessions have now been set up from 5 to 6pm on Tuesday nights.
