AIR DAY’S MIG-NIFICENT COLD WAR STAR

NAFHS MiG-15Northern Europe’s only flying MiG-15 will be making a rare UK appearance in the flying display at RNAS Yeovilton International Air Day 2015 on Saturday 11 July. Zebra foal Polly at Longleat PIC Ian Turner[1]A zebra foal which was born on Valentine’s Day is set to meet visitors at Longleat over the Mother’s Day weekend. The tiny Grant’s zebra foal, which was born on February 14th after a year-long pregnancy, weighed just over 15kgs at birth. She is the second foal for proud mum Kimbia, who was also born at Longleat, and keepers are delighted with her progress so far. Full story: Read more

The Chandos Society of Artists―Jean Rees Memorial Lecture HANS SCHWARZ ― his life and works

_DSC29972.30pm 21 March 2015, Bridgwater Arts Centre, 11-13 Castle Street, Bridgwater TA6 3DD. This year’s popular Jean Rees Memorial Lecture is presented by Paul Upton, the author of the biography ‘Hans Schwarz’ which was launched at the National Portrait Gallery last year. Paul Upton also wrote ‘Hans Schwarz in Somerset’  about one of Somerset’s more illustrious guests. Chandos Society of Artists’ members and guests will hear much about Schwarz’s time at Stogursey  during the 1960s and how the painter, sculptor, illustrator and author didn’t waste a single day in producing some work. Full story: Read more
