The Beginners Goldwork Course will run every Thursday, starting on Thursday 4th May until Thursday 25th May from 10am – 12pm and costs £60. Only 10 spaces are available to ensure each student gets lots of attention.

Beginners will be taught how to apply padding using craft felt, when to wax their thread, how to use and couch different types of gold metal thread and how to use cutwork.

Intermediate Goldwork Course: starting on Thursday 4th May until Thursday 25th May from 1-3pm. £60. Only 10 spaces are available to ensure each student gets lots of attention.

Following on from the Beginners Goldwork Day which covered padding using craft felt, when to wax the thread, how to use and couch different types of gold metal thread and how to use cutwork, the Intermediate level will cover the use of soft string padding and carpet felt padding, using cutwork in different ways and will also introduce spangles and twist.

The last week will be spent designing an original piece of goldwork, using these newly acquire skills.

Tea and coffee are included in the class price of both levels.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn a traditional hand embroidery technique in the beautiful surroundings of the Bishop’s Palace.
