Free breakfast at Yeo Valley to promote organic food

Yeo Valley Canteen is encouraging people to try organic food by offering a free breakfast.

Yeo Valley Canteen in Blagdon, North Somerset will lay-on a free organic breakfast to members of the public from 08.30 – 10.30 on Wednesday 14 June. People will also be able to buy specially created cooked organic breakfasts on the day.

Yeo Valley Executive Chef Paul Collins

Yeo Valley Executive Chef Paul Collins said:

“We’re offering everyone the chance to come to our Canteen and try a free organic breakfast of granola, yogurt, fruit juice and our delicious organic milk. I’m also putting on a special cooked breakfast menu which customers can buy if they fancy something more. Organic is for everyone and we just want people to give it a try and see what they think.”

“Organic produce is natural, tasty and delicious with fewer pesticides and full of nutrients. I use as much of it as possible here and our customers love it. I’m sure people will be tempted by what’s on offer so I’m hoping we will have a packed canteen.”

The event is part of a campaign called ‘Wake Up To Organic’, set up by the Organic Trade Board, to raise awareness of the benefits and versatility of organic produce.

The UK’s appetite for organic food is growing, as people become more aware of the benefits to the environment and of knowing what’s in their food.

Recent studies indicate that the UK is increasingly interested in choosing organic – sales of organic products increased by 7.1% last year and organic sales via independent stores grew to 6.3%. Sales of popular breakfast foods such as organic dairy grew by 3.2%.

The Yeo Valley Canteen recently featured on Channel 4’s ‘Hidden Restaurants with Michel Rou Jr’ and received tabloid coverage in 2015 for being the “best staff canteen in the world”.
