The Od Arts Festival will bring together public artworks, performances, paintings and video works that were selected from an open call, to which over 70 artists applied.

The festival is curated by Simon Lee Dicker, director of OSR Projects and, artist and writer, Bob Gelsthorpe and is being supported with a grant from South Somerset District Council, the Arts Council England and local businesses.

Simon Lee Dicker, director of OSR Project said, “I am looking forward to bringing artists and audiences together for a weekend of contemporary art. Exhibitions and events will take place in unexpected locations, from a Manor House to the local Twineworks, in bus shelters and on the sunken paths between the villages.”

Festival co-curator Bob Gelsthorpe added, “I’m really excited to be involved in the first Od Arts Festival. The selected artists will explore posture, humour, song, fiction and many things in between, all jarring to create a weekend of contemporary art in East and West Coker.”

Councillor Sylvia Seal Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture at South Somerset District Council said, “We are pleased to support the first Od Arts Festival as it contributes to our vision for South Somerset as a district where residents enjoy good housing and cultural, leisure and sporting activities.  We were happy to provide this grant to support the work of OSR Projects and look forward to their continued success within the community.”

The Od Arts Festival is being held Friday 11 May until Sunday 13 May across locations in East and West Coker. For more information, visit www.odartsfestival.co.uk or call 01935 862201. Most exhibitions and events are free of charge.
