Butterflies are booming at Wimborne’s Knoll Gardens with sightings more than 60% up on the same time as last year. And, as well as counting 58 individual butterflies in a single survey, butterfly expert Keith Powrie has also recorded three new species in the garden, the Marbled White, Keeled Skimmer and White Admiral. Shaftesbury Will Host England’s Third-Biggest Fringe Following Record Registrations

Shaftesbury Fringe organisers say that the three-day event is now England’s third-largest open-access arts festival, based on performance numbers. When artist registration closed on Thursday night, 139 separate performances had been booked, a massive increase from the 83 events offered as part of the 2017 schedule. Only Brighton and Manchester offer larger fringe festivals in England with more performances. Full story: Read more
