Blake Envelopes get onboard with St Margaret’s Atlantic Challenge

Blake EnvelopesLast month saw the launch of St Margaret’s Hospice’s nautical fundraising event – ‘Challenge of a Lifetime,’ of which Blake Envelopes is a proud sponsor.

Taking place from 16 October 2014 to 16 April 2015, the challenge will see intrepid sailors from across the UK covering some serious distance across the Atlantic Ocean.

This exciting voyage supports the fantastic work of St Margaret’s Hospice, a charity committed to providing specialist care to those with terminal or life-limiting illnesses, motor neurone disease and chronic lung disease. Yeovil-based Blake Envelopes, the UK’s leading envelope supplier, is involved in this global challenge and has proudly sponsored a sail on St Margaret’s Hospice’s yacht.

On Saturday 20 September 2014, members of the Blake Envelopes team travelled to Portsmouth to see the ship and get to know some of the crew. This was captured in a short video featured on the Blake Envelopes website.

Director of Blake Envelopes, Tim Browning, commented: “Charitable giving is very much a part of who we are as a company and this year we choose to support St. Margaret’s Atlantic Challenge and became a sponsor for the event. Seeing Blake on the sail of the Challenger has been a real morale booster and will continue to make us proud as the yacht makes its way around the world.”

The voyage has been broken down into eight legs, making it easy for sailors to fit the journey around their busy lives and those taking part can choose to do all eight of the legs or just one.

The exhilarating challenge will take participants from the West Country to the Caribbean via St Malo, the Canaries, Barbados and on to the Bahamas, returning via the Azores and County Cork in Ireland.

Teresa Wort, Corporate Fundraiser for St Margaret’s, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Blake for sponsoring the sail and to the team for coming down today to enjoy a trip out. Our patients face a challenge every day, so it’s wonderful that we can raise funds from people taking part in the Challenge of a Lifetime. It is fantastic to think that Blake is helping us to achieve this.”

Each leg lasts from between eight to 26 days and the Challenge is open to sailors of all ability.
