This year’s popular Jean Rees Memorial Lecture is presented by Paul Upton, the author of the biography ‘Hans Schwarz’ which was launched at the National Portrait Gallery last year. Paul Upton also wrote ‘Hans Schwarz in Somerset’ about one of Somerset’s more illustrious guests. Chandos Society of Artists’ members and guests will hear much about Schwarz’s time at Stogursey during the 1960s and how the painter, sculptor, illustrator and author didn’t waste a single day in producing some work. Somerset Tourism Literature Exchange
Over 40 tourist attractions will gather at South Somerset District Council’s free tourism literature exchange on Tuesday 17 March. The event which is hosted by SSDC’s Economic Development Team will take place at Haynes International Motor Museum between 10am and 12:30pm. If you run a pub, café, restaurant, accommodation or Tourist Information service, come along to the Literature Exchange and collect supplies of tourist attraction leaflets to give to your visitors. CALLING ALL YOUNG ARTISTS FOR ‘STEP IN STONE’ SCULPTURE DESIGN COMPETITION
This summer’s exciting art project, ‘step in stone’, is offering young, budding artists an opportunity to exhibit their work alongside international artists.
