ANIMAL PARK SUMMER SPECIAL AT LONGLEAT

A brand new BBC Animal Park series from Longleat begins on Monday, July 31st. Filmed at the Wiltshire estate and in Kenya, the 10-part series stars presenters Kate Humble, Ben Fogle and Jean Johansson and will be broadcast at 9.15am every weekday until August 11thon BBC1. LONGLEAT IN BID TO SAVE WORLD’S RAREST RHINO

Longleat is playing a vital role in a last ditch international race to save the world’s rarest rhino from extinction. The northern white rhino (Ceratotherium simum cottoni), whose wild population was estimated in the thousands as recently as 1960, was virtually wiped out in the 2000s due to poaching. Trowbridge’s budding rock stars raise the roof

Young bands from a Bath and Trowbridge rock school showed that months of practice had paid off when they raised the roof at their end of year concert. SUMMER BABY BOOM AT SAFARI PARK

Longleat Safari Park is enjoying a summer baby boom with no fewer than 20 monkeys, three rare Chinese deer, marmoset twins and two reindeer calves all making their first public appearances in recent weeks. The number of baby monkeys born is such that even the dominant male, known as Phil, has taken to helping out with babysitting duties. Full story: Read more
