Bridging The Generation Gap – Somerset Wildlife Trust Recognises Two Special Fundraisers

Netta Joan Morgan (media)The work of Somerset Wildlife Trust across the county and the public’s love of wildlife bridged the generation gap today as the organisation said thank you to two wonderful fundraisers: Netta Joan Morgan celebrated her 100th birthday in February and, instead of accepting any gifts at her birthday party, she and her family elected to ask guests to make a donation to Somerset Wildlife Trust which amounted to £215. Olivia Dullaghan 2Thanks to some generous funding from Martin Stanley, one of Somerset Wildlife Trust’s Trustees, we are delighted to welcome Olivia Dullaghan to the team as our very first Visitor Management Officer. Olivia will be out and about this Spring and Summer across our flagship nature reserves in the Avalon Marshes and Cheddar area, inspiring people about the fantastic wildlife that there is to see on our Nature Reserves, and helping visitors with any questions they might have. Somerset Wildlife Trust Creates Pint-Sized Urban Wildlife Oasis at Taunton HQ

During 2Somerset Wildlife Trust has had a serious Spring in its step this last week as it has put its plans to create a mini urban wildlife space at its Taunton HQ into action. Initial small works have taken place including the installation of feeding stations, bird boxes and hedgehog boxes; a wildlife pond has been dug by staff and volunteers and is ready for the installation of a donated pond liner; and bug tower blocks and compost stacks are now ready for residents and to be filled.
