Somerset’s award-winning floral designer, Jackie Nicholls from Ashville Design said: “My day started with a live interview about the event on BBC Radio Somerset’s breakfast show with Simon Parkin, then it was off to the village hall.

“Apart from the focus being on fun, flower arranging and education, this event was designed to promote friendship through flowers – and that was definitely achieved.

“I encouraged a bring and share lunch and was absolutely amazed at the amount and quality of food that started arriving, no-one went hungry!”

During the demonstration and a lot of laughter, the audience were treated to an abundance of gorgeous fresh blooms.

Amongst over 30 designs made for the raffle, an exclusive piece was included which was created for a demonstration at The RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Rosemoor, Torrington, Devon as part of their annual July Rose Festival this year.

There were also plenty of educational tips and tricks from the trade.

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole event. Winning the carnival design was a fabulous prize to take home – and a lovely birthday present for me”, said Karen Bridger from Yeovil.

Angela Long from Tatworth, near Chard added: “It was a wonderful morning, absolutely inspiring. The arrangements were just fabulous – and I think we were all amazed at those Jackie ‘just made earlier!’”

Marcus Fysh MP said: “I had a wonderful time attending the flower arranging and admiring the beautiful flower arrangements on display. It was great to see so many members of the local community get together for such a fantastic event as brilliantly organised by Jackie Nicholls.”

“Heartfelt appreciation must go to my audience and helpers for their overwhelming support – and very special thanks to Marcus for joining us,” said Jackie.
