The police are being urged to intervene after more thanLyde Road 80% of drivers on a road in Yeovil, Somerset, flouted the speed limit. A speed indicator device on Lyde Road in the town recorded the motorists during an eight-day period in November. BBC News – Somerset County Council jobs at risk as budgets considered

More than 80 jobs are at risk as Somerset County Council attempts to make £23m in savings over the next financial year. John Osman, leader of the Conservative-controlled administration, said there were “difficult times ahead” after the loss of 5% (£20m) of its funding. Mr Osman said although he would be happy to take a pay cut he would not be asking his staff to do the same. But Sam Crabb from the Lib Dems called the budget plan a “complete disaster”.
