Two Mendip District Council councillors have stepped down leaving vacancies in these Mendip wards. Councillors Wayne Closier and Sue Cook have both decided to resign as district councillors. Wayne Closier, who was a Conservative councillor for the Ashwick, Chilcompton and Stratton ward, decided to leave his position at the start of March, while Shepton West Liberal Democrat councillor Sue Cook stepped down last week. Bringing Mendip’s empty homes back into use
Mendip District Council is stepping up its efforts to bring the area’s empty homes back into use by launching a new strategy to tackle the problem. The three-year strategy, which was agreed at a meeting of the Council’s Cabinet on Monday (11th March), sets out how the council will bring empty properties back into use to provide decent and affordable accommodation, mainly in the private rented sector.
