One month’s free rental when you sign up to Careline before 31st October

Careline Ad Photo 1 - 1 Oct 15This autumn, South Somerset District Council’s Careline service is giving new customers the chance to receive one month’s free rental when you sign up to the service before 31st October. Careline provides help at the touch of a button and gives that little extra support to people who want to remain living independently for as long as possible while bringing peace of mind to their family and friends. The service provides an emergency alarm pendant that can be worn at all times, which links to our local control centre where emergency staff are on hand to answer calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Mary Siraut, Author of Queen Camel and the Cadburys speaking in Castle Cary Thursday 22 October

VictoriaCountyHistory (1)Mary Siraut is the author of the latest volume in the Victoria County History series on Somerset, Queen Camel and the Cadburys. This book is a comprehensive account of the ten parishes comprising the southern half of the Catash Hundred, an area rich in archeology and history. There will be an opportunity for people living in the area to ask questions about their houses, churches and their parish. Thursday 22nd October 7.00 pm for 7.30 at the Shambles, Market House, Castle Cary. The excitement is pumping for brand new cycle facility

pump5Young cyclists were hurtling round corners with huge smiles on their faces when a new ‘Pump Track’ officially opened in Yeovil on Wednesday 30 September. The project, which has been led by South Somerset District Council, followed consultation during the summer which highlighted a lot of enthusiasm for local cycling facilities. It is hoped that the track – which is located near Wyndham Park in Yeovil – will be the start of more cycling facilities in South Somerset. Full Story: Read more
