Council chiefs and business leaders in Devon and Somerset have submitted their ‘prospectus for productivity’ to the Government in a bid to win more powers to boost jobs and growth. They say they want a ‘devolution revolution’ to improve the lives of people in Devon and Somerset. Bristol Food Connections has announced ‘second helpings’ with the news that GWR will once again be headline sponsor of its 2016 festival – which runs from Friday 29 April for nine days across the May Bank Holiday. Gardeners recreate Jekyll planting scheme for Victorian Terrace
The gardeners at Hestercombe have been busily emptying one of the flower beds around the balustrade of the Victorian Terrace, but don’t panic, it’s all to ensure the original planting schemes designed by Gertrude Jekyll, are followed. The plants that have been taken out are a mix of fuchsias, penstemon and roses, which were planted in the 1970s by Somerset County Council. Full story: Read more
