South Somerset District Council’s Healthy Lifestyles Team is helping older and frail residents to keep active by offering a one day ‘Flexercise’ training session in Chard on Thursday 5th November. Sam Wenden-de-Lira, Healthy Lifestyles Officer at the district council explained the benefits of the training: “Flexercise is a series of chair based exercises that are an ideal way to keep residents in nursing homes, care homes, Active Living Centres, residential homes and sheltered housing active. Local Ladies Go Continental!
A recent flower arranging workshop held at Combe St Nicholas Village Hall near Chard attracted a full house of local ladies having fun. Based on a modern, continental theme they watched a step-by-step demonstration first before rolling up their sleeves and with help, produced some stunning designs to take home and show off to their family and friends. DAIRY SHORTHORN PAIR TAKE TOP HONOURS AT THE DAIRY SHOW
Yorkshire dairy farmer Ian Collins enjoyed huge success with his Dairy Shorthorn cows at the Dairy Show this week, taking home numerous ribbons and the interbreed pairs award. Mr Collins took top honours in a number of Dairy Shorthorn classes, including the breed championship with his cow Churchroyd Heather 50. Topping it off, he secured the prestigious interbreed pairs championship, sponsored by Old Mill accountants. Full story: Read more
