Local Flower Arrangers Create Spring Floral Cards

flower arrangingLocal ladies set the Spring season off to a fashionable start by making floral cards at a flower arranging workshop held on 25thFebruary 2016 at Combe St Nicholas Village Hall, near Chard.

During a step-by-step demonstration by their tutor, the scent of the spring flowers filled the air – together with lots of fun and laughter.

“This was another excellent workshop. Jackie is a really good teacher and gave us all very helpful advice. I was really pleased with my card,” said Su Robinson from Wadeford near Chard.

Kim Hill from Horton, Ilminster added: “It was very relaxing and friendly and great doing something new, as well as seeing all the different designs created.”

Sandra Gillard from Langport said: “I came to see Jackie demonstrate at Christmas, won one of her designs in the raffle and decided to come along and have a go. I’m not very arty, but really pleased with what I made. I learnt a lot of hints and tips along the way.”

Local tutor, Jackie Nicholls who teaches the workshops said: “Everyone who came along did so well. I’m very proud of them all and the designs they made. It was a really uplifting evening – and proved that Spring has finally sprung!”

You will learn how to make the design in your hand by creating spiralled stems. Next, you will learn a tying technique using raffia. And if you like, you can finish it off with a choice of wrapping. Simply stunning.

Thursday 21st April 2016
10am-12.30pm Time for Tea – Vintage and Contemporary
A tea-cup (and saucer) may not seem the obvious choice for a vase, but for small-scale floral snippets from your garden these designs are absolutely delightful and so versatile. You will learn how to make either a lovely vintage or stunning contemporary design linked to the colour and style of your tableware. A perfect design for you to keep – or repeat to give as a lovely gift. Don’t miss this one.

Cost is £20 per person per workshop including basic kit and refreshments. Details of other workshops are available at www.ashvilledesign.co.uk
