THE FORCE WAS WITH THE CLARKE WILLMOTT TEAM AT CHARITY BOAT RACE

A group of lawyers from Clarke Willmott LLP in Taunton supported the annual Headway Somerset Dragon Boat Festival raising over £1500 for the local charity.

Taking place on the River Tone, the event saw businesses and teams from across the region battle it out for several titles, including the coveted ‘Best Fancy Dress’ accolade which was once again retained by the Clarke Willmott team.

Chris Thorne, Partner in the Taunton office of Clarke Willmott, said: “The Clarke Willmott team turned out “in force” to defend the trophy for ‘Best Fancy Dress. This year’s theme of “Star Wars” saw our own Darth Vader leading 16 Stormtroopers to take the trophy once again!

“But our Taunton office has more to celebrate than being the best dressed; for the first time in three years the team crossed the finish line in under a minute and escaped the stigma of the “wooden paddle”, which has plagued our trophy cabinet for the last two years, coming in a very respectable 8th out of 10.”

Clarke Willmott also hosted a bake sale on the day to raise further funds for Headway Somerset which supports victims of acquired brain injury and their families throughout Somerset.

Chris continued: “We’re delighted to have once again raised funds for this excellent charity. We act for many clients with brain injuries and their families and we regularly refer them to Headway which offers such great support and advice.

“Huge thanks go to all those members of the firm who took part, plus various family and friends who provided support and sponsorship.”
