Don’t forget to register to vote to take part in the local elections – 2 May 2019

With just over a week to go until the deadline to register to vote in the local elections, Mendip District Council is urging residents to make sure they are registered in time.

On Thursday 2 May voters will go to the polls to elect councillors in all 34 Mendip District Council wards and there will also be 22 parish contests. The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Friday 12 April.

Stuart Brown, Mendip District Council Chief Executive and Elections Returning Officer; said: “May’s elections are now just around the corner and I would urge anyone not yet registered to vote to do so as soon as possible.

“Registering to vote online is a straightforward process that only takes a few minutes to complete and means that you can have your say at the ballot box on the local issues that affect your life.”

Anyone not already registered to vote at their current address can register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. Registering to vote takes less than five minutes; all you need is your National Insurance number to hand.
