Ladies from all over Somerset, Dorset and Devon flocked to Combe St Nicholas village hall near Chard recently for a sold-out flower arranging demonstration, “Let’s Celebrate Spring!” by award-winning Somerset floral designer Jackie Nicholls.
Sitting back relaxing, the ladies watched numerous different inspirational Spring creations being made using an abundance of beautiful flowers.
Amongst plenty of humour – and to the delight of the audience – lots of new ideas, design hints, tips and tricks of the trade were revealed along the way.
It wasn’t long before the stage was completely full of all the different designs made. These were then all raffled for the winners who proudly took them home on the day.
To add to the enjoyment, the ladies also indulged in a “Bring and Share” session at coffee time.
Demonstrator Jackie Nicholls from Ashville Design in Somerset said: “I was overwhelmed with the support received for this event from my students, their friends, neighbours and VIPs.
“Flower arranging is great fun and very therapeutic – anyone can do it, you don’t need to be creative or have any experience.
“I organised this event to have fun, encourage my love of flowers, and very importantly, show how flowers can create new and lasting friendships.
“My sincerest thanks must go to everyone who came and particularly to those who helped behind the scenes at this fabulous morning.”
